If you’re experiencing symptoms that could be related to an allergy, the GPs at Territory Medical can assess your symptoms and advise on the next steps.
Dr Sara Martin has a special interest in allergy assessment and management, providing dedicated consultations and skin prick testing at our Allergy Clinic in Darwin.
Other GPs can refer patients to Dr Martin when further allergy assessment is needed.
Dr Martin can assess conditions including:
- Hay fever
- Food allergies
- Allergy-associated eczema
- Insect sting reactions
- Hives and swelling
- Asthma symptoms that may be triggered by allergies
Skin prick testing may be performed when appropriate. If specialist care is needed, referral to an allergist or immunologist can be arranged.

Initial consultation
45 minutes
Cost: $320–$400
Medicare rebate: $122.15–$197.90
Pre-payment is required to secure your booking due to limited appointment availability.
If skin prick testing may be required, please stop taking antihistamines at least 3 days before your appointment.
Review appointments
Dr Martin will advise if a review appointment is needed during your initial consultation.
- Short review: $130 (Medicare rebate $42.85)
- Standard review: $230 (Medicare rebate $82.90)
- Long review: $300 (Medicare rebate $122.15)
Allergy Testing
Territory Medical offers allergy assessment and testing through Dr Sara Martin. Testing may help identify substances contributing to your symptoms when considered alongside your medical history and clinical assessment.
Before recommending testing, Dr Martin will discuss your symptoms, previous reactions, family history and existing medical conditions.
Depending on your circumstances, she may recommend:
- Skin prick testing
- Review of previous allergy test results
- Further investigations where appropriate
- Referral to an allergist or immunologist if specialist assessment is needed
Not everyone with allergy symptoms needs testing. Dr Martin will discuss whether testing is appropriate and the next steps for your situation.
Skin Prick Testing
Skin prick testing may be performed during your appointment if appropriate and time allows.
- Before testing: Stop antihistamines at least 3 days beforehand.
- Cost: $95–$130
Spirometry usually requires a separate appointment and may involve an additional cost.
Immunotherapy
Injections: $65
Medicare rebate: $19.60
If additional consultation time with Dr Martin is required, the standard allergy consultation fees listed above will apply.
Repeat orders are available online for $23. A review appointment may be required.

Dr. Sara Martin has a special interest in allergy assessment and management at Territory Medical’s Allergy Clinic.

- Hives (urticaria) and/or swelling (angioedema)
Dr Martin can provide initial assessment and, where appropriate, allergy testing for hay fever, asthma, eczema and food allergies. Dr Martin does not currently perform patch testing. If allergic contact dermatitis is suspected, referral to a dermatologist may be recommended.

What is allergy testing?
Allergy testing is used to help identify substances that may be contributing to allergic symptoms. Dr Martin will determine whether testing is appropriate based on your symptoms, medical history and examination findings.
What is a skin prick test?
A skin prick test is a commonly used method of assessing immediate allergic responses to selected allergens. Small amounts of allergen extracts are placed on the skin, and any reaction is assessed after a short period. Results are interpreted alongside your clinical history.
Do I need a referral for allergy testing?
You don’t need a referral to book an allergy consultation with Dr Martin. She will assess your symptoms and determine whether allergy testing is appropriate.
How long does a skin prick test take?
The testing process is usually completed during your appointment, although appointment times may vary depending on the number of allergens being assessed and your individual circumstances.
Is allergy testing suitable for children?
Allergy testing may be appropriate for children depending on their symptoms, medical history and suspected triggers. Dr Martin can assess whether testing is suitable and discuss the next steps with a parent or carer.
